Science Experiments Instructor Guide

Grading science experiment results in Learn

  1. In the Learn management portal, click the menu icon in the upper-left corner.
  2. Go to Assessments. A list of learners’ assignments is displayed showing their progress and submission status.
  3. Use filtering options to find the experiment to be graded.
  4. On the Assessment page the following columns are shown:
    • Learner’s first, middle, and last name
    • Overall score
    • State of the experiment
    • Unit (group) the learner belongs to
    • Email of the learner
    • Submission and grading date of the experiment

Note: You can also use the Column Selector to add or remove columns as needed.

  5. Double-click an assignment entry to open the grading interface.
Results are displayed in a table format as filled in the tablet within the experiment:
    • In free text answers, the learner’s answers are shown above; suggested (correct) answers appear below in grey.
    • Incorrect numerical values are highlighted in red.

At the top of the assessment panel, you can see when the learner submitted the experiment and the time they took to complete it.

The yellow-highlighted fields in the table indicate sections of the experiment that you should review carefully, as they may not reflect results from a completed experiment. On the right side of the assessment panel, you can assign grades for the submission as follows:
    • Enter a score manually (from 1 to 100).
    • Provide written feedback
    • Click Save Score to save it without publishing.
    • Click Confirm and Publish to finalize the grade.

IMPORTANT: Once confirmed, the grade cannot be changed.

  6. After you complete grading, the experiment status changes to Finished, and the grade cannot be modified.

If only a single attempt is allowed, the learner cannot redo the experiment unless the instructor revokes the attempt by clicking the three dots on the right side of the experiment.
