In Release 19, we’ve implemented the following features:

• Assignment as a new activity type
• Selecting a language for quiz generation

What's new

Assignment as a new activity type

We are pleased to announce a new activity type, Assignment, now available in the system. In the context of the Learning Management System (LMS), an assignment is a task given by instructors to learners to assess their understanding and application of course material. This can include a variety of submissions, such as essays, reports, projects, and multimedia presentations.

Authors can create assignments with specific instructions, deadlines, and grading criteria. Each assignment consists of a text description and may also include attachments such as files, images, links, or formulas. However, assignments do not contain sections, questions, or additional text blocks.

Assignments can require text submissions or file uploads.

Note that assignments cannot be published independently: they must be part of a composition.

Selecting a language for quiz generation

Now quiz authors can define the language in which they want a quiz to be generated. This feature allows the selected language to differ from the language of the uploaded materials or the instructions provided, which offers greater flexibility for multilingual content creation.
