Configuring passing scores for activities
Passing scores for individual activities within a course can be configured in the three ways describe below.
The options on the Activities statuses tab in the Grading scale settings determine how individual activities in a course (or program) are marked as Passed or Failed:
- Flow control settings — each graded activity in the course has its own individual passing score.
- Applied grading scale — the passing score specified for the grading scale is applied to all individual activities in the course.
The table below illustrates the available combinations of grading settings
| Grading scale tab | Activity statuses tab | How grading works |
|---|---|---|
| Grading scale is absent. | Flow control settings option is selected by default. | The passing scores specified in the Content flow configuration are applied to each activity as configured in the flow. |
| Grading scale is present. | Flow control settings option is selected. | The passing scores that apply to individual activities are taken from the Content flow configuration, but the passing score that applies to the entire course is taken from the grading scale settings. |
| Grading scale is present. | Applied grading scale option is selected. | The passing scores specified in the grading scale are applied to all the activities of the composite course and to the entire course. |
