Taking quizzes
For courses consisting of multiple sections, you might need to take multiple quizzes. Depending on the settings, quizzes might contain questions of different types:
- Multiple answer questions in which you can select more than one correct option from a list of given answers. Such questions are automatically assessed after you submit the answers.
- Multiple choice questions in which in which you need to select one correct option from a list of given answers. Such questions are automatically assessed after you submit the answers.
- Short answer questions in which you need to enter a short text (for example, a number, or a particular word or phrase). Such questions are also automatically assessed. After you submit the answers, answers are compared against the correct values stored in the application database.
- Free format response questions in which you need to enter a long text (for example, an essay or a page with a solution to a problem) or to attach your response as a file. Such questions do not have given answers and require manual assessment by an instructor or teaching assistant.
- Matching questions in which you need to match pairs of statements. Such questions are automatically assessed after you submit the answers.
- Ordering questions in which you need to place provided answers in the correct order. Such questions are automatically assessed after you submit the answers.
Each quiz has the following important parameters:
- Availability — the period during which a quiz can be started. Quizzes become unavailable after the availability end date.
- Due date — the deadline (date and time) for completing the quiz.
- Duration — the time allocated for completing the quiz session. This parameter is applicable to timed quizzes.
If you exit a timed quiz, the time countdown continues. You can resume taking the quiz later if there is time left or if the quiz allows you to have multiple attempts and its due date is in the future.
