Release 119

Overview

In Release 119, we’ve introduced the following new feature:

  • Duplication of media blocks and compositions

Additionally, we’ve implemented several improvements to enhance content management, collaboration, and the overall user experience. These updates pave the way for innovative, AI-enabled functionality in the coming year.

What's new

Duplication of media blocks and compositions

Content team members with Team Contributor or Team Lead roles, who belong to the team that owns the resource, as well as all instructors and administrators, can now duplicate:

  • Media blocks by creating a reusable or modifiable copy.
  • Compositions by copying an entire composition, including all sub-compositions and sub-media blocks.

Improvements and fixes

Improvements

  • AI tutor introduction: We've introduced a new under-the-hood feature that automatically creates a knowledge model whenever an objective is created. In future updates, we will populate these models with objective content and enforce user access controls based on enrollment rules and flow settings.
  • Rules for defining collaborative activities: We have clarified the rules specifying which activities can be collaborative. To avoid confusion, only Class Discussions and Assignments are now set as collaborative by default in the Scheduler. This ensures instructors and learners cannot initiate other activities as collaborative.
  • Learner and instructor dashboard improvements: Now instructors and learners can view and interact with the Messages widget on their dashboards. The wizard lets them quickly address requests and questions from others who need their attention.
  • Supervisor role introduction: We’ve introduced a new Global Content Supervisor role. Users with this role can view, create, and edit content from any team to ensure content integrity and consistency.

Fixes

We've made the following fixes for the following errors:

  • Newly created SCORM activities were not always shown in the activity list.
  • Media blocks occasionally failed to display when a course was started, requiring a page reload to appear.
  • Pasting text into the text editor sometimes resulted in incorrect font rendering.
  • Adding a placeholder in the Certificate Template Editor occasionally reset all blocks.
  • Discussion content required a page reload to display properly.
  • Instructor activity links were sometimes not copied correctly.
  • The PDF reader occasionally failed to start.
  • Composition records were not reset when an associated activity record was revoked.

Known issues

  • When instructors select Show answers when score is reached and Allow review for an assignment, the score is not shown, but the quiz feedback is.
  • The grace period is not applied to child compositions within other child compositions.
  • Sizes of attached files are shown only for newly-uploaded files.
  • A new toggle cannot be created within a toggle.
  • New members cannot be added to a newly created team without refreshing the screen.
  • The date and time selector sometimes does not fit on the screen in Reports.
  • When signing out from Avatar, a user is not signed out from LMS.
  • External links to cover images cannot be edited.
  • Error 401 occurs after an upload of a SCORM package is canceled and the second upload attempt is initiated. The page refresh is necessary to initiate the upload.
  • Settings applied for a specific SCORM version are not appropriately distinguished.
  • The "Not found" text is displayed when a learner attempts to start a quiz with a due date in the past.
  • The Customize Default View setting does not apply to the Collections filter.
  • Saving the default view doesn't work when creating a new custom report.
