Overview

In this release, we introduced new quiz question display modes in Assess that give instructors greater control over how assessments are presented to learners, including support for one-question-at-a-time exams with optional backtracking restrictions. We also continued improving Groups integration by migrating Classroom links to the new Groups interface for eligible tenants.

In addition, we are continuing work on several initiatives planned for future releases, including improvements to the Unified Compose authoring experience (future Prism application), AI grading integration, learner interface redesigns, reporting capabilities, and selected SIS integrations.

What's new

Question display modes for quizzes

Instructors can now configure how questions are displayed to learners during quizzes. Three display modes are available:

  • All questions on one page (default) — all questions are visible on a single page.
  • One question at a time — learners see one question per page and can navigate forward and backward.
  • One question at a time with no backtracking — a restricted exam mode where learners can move only forward and cannot return to previous questions.

These options are particularly useful for high-stakes assessments where instructors need tighter control over question visibility and navigation. Answers are automatically saved as learners progress, and the countdown timer, if enabled, remains visible throughout the exam.

Improvements

Groups migration

For tenants with a Groups license, Classroom links are being migrated to the new Groups interface. When learners select Rooms in the sidebar, they are redirected to the /groups/rooms page, where they can access the updated Groups collaboration features. This change supports a smooth transition to the new Groups experience while preserving compatibility for tenants without the license.

    • Fixed an issue where the "Review" button remained disabled after submitting an activity until the page was refreshed.
    • Fixed an issue where collaborative activities were not automatically started for all group members when the first member started the activity.
    • Fixed an issue where clicking on an assignment in the calendar did not navigate to the correct experiment page.
