Blocking processes in Desktop Application (Secure Browser)

Proctor Secure Browser has these three modes:

  • basic
  • medium
  • high

In the high mode, test takers cannot minimize, collapse, or close Secure Browser. Additionally, they cannot use applications that are on the blocking list. By default, Secure Browser uses our preset list. To add new processes to the black list you can send us a JSON with values for desktopAppForbiddenProcesses.

If your exam includes tasks that require the use of other applications during the exam (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and so on), use the medium mode of Secure Browser. It also blocks forbidden processes, but allows test takers to run those that are on the white list. You can send us a desktopAppAllowedProcesses that includes a process that allows test takers to complete tasks.

InformationWindows process names are specified with the .exe extension and their name may be different for macOS.
