Creating courses

Managing courses (compositions) visual settings

You can manage the way learning components in a course (or program, or composition) are displayed to a learner. For example, if you have a course consisting of sub-courses, you most probably would like to display the sub-course as tiles; if you have a short objective, you might want to display all its content on one page.

Note: The tile view is not supported for compositions with media block components. Ensure your composition contains only compatible components to enable the tile view.

To set how a course (objective) content is displayed to learners:

  1. In the Learn management portal, click in the upper-left corner.
  2. Go to Authoring > Content libraries.
  3. Click Compositions. A list of existing compositions will be displayed.
  4. Select the required composition and click to call the menu.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. In the composition editor, click the down-facing arrow above the composition name to expand the visual settings menu and select the required option:
    • Show as a tree hierarchy — the composition content will be displayed to learners with the navigation tree on the left with the ability to switch between sections.
    • Show on one page — the composition content will be displayed to learners on one page without a need to switch between sections.
    • Show on one page / no activity names — the composition content will be displayed to learners on one page without showing headings for separate activities.
    • Show as course tiles — the composition content will be displayed to learners as tiles containing its activities.
