Publishing a composition

To enable your course to be used in learning programmes, you need to publish it. You can do this in the following ways:

• Publish a composition directly from the composition editor right after you create or edit it.
• Publish a composition later from the Compositions library.

Note: Make sure that the composition you intend to publish is in the Ready status (see Managing composition statuses). Published compositions in Draft status are displayed to learners as "coming soon" but cannot be accessed.

Publishing compositions from the editor

1. In the Learn management portal, click in the upper-left corner.
2. Go to Authoring > Content libraries.
3. Click Compositions. A list of existing compositions will be displayed.
4. Double-click the required composition to open it.
5. Click Go to editor.
6. Make sure the composition status is Ready.
   
7. In the upper-right corner, click Publish.
   
   You will be redirected to the Objective creation menu.
8. Specify the following details of the objective your are going to create from the composition:
   • Meta data
   • Information page
   • Title page for LTI or the objective content for texts
   • Grading scale applied to assess the objective
   • Enrolled users and user groups
9. Click Save. Now you can use the composition as an objective for assigning to learners.

Publishing compositions from the Compositions library

1. In the Learn management portal, click in the upper-left corner.
2. Go to Authoring > Content libraries.
3. Click Compositions. A list of existing compositions will be displayed.
4. Select the composition you want to publish and click to call the menu.
   
5. Click Publish. You will be redirected to the Objective creation menu.
6. Specify the following details of the objective your are going to create from the composition:
   • Meta data
   • Information page
   • Title page for LTI or the objective content for texts
   • Grading scale applied to assess the objective
   • Enrolled users and user groups
7. Click Save. Now you can use the composition as an objective for assigning to learners.

An objectiveis an individual, lowest level learning management component that defines who, when, how and why (with what goal) will get access and view (or complete) a certain activity.
